Shamli Man Stabbed to Death After Threatening to Expose Friend’s Same-Sex Relationship

Shamli (U.P.) – Nov 1, 2025: In a shocking incident reflecting both personal conflict and the dangers of stigma surrounding homosexuality, a 28-year-old man named Manish was murdered in Khedabhaun village, located in Uttar Pradesh’s Shamli district. According to police reports, the killing was allegedly carried out after Manish threatened to expose his friend’s same-sex relationship.

The Background: A Threat That Turned Fatal

Police sources said Manish had learned that his friend Rajveer (70) was involved in a homosexual relationship with a younger man, Sahil (20). This discovery reportedly created tension between them.

Investigators stated that Manish warned he would reveal the relationship to others in the village — a threat that allegedly triggered the violent response.

The Murder: Lured to an Orchard and Attacked

On October 31, Rajveer and Sahil allegedly planned to eliminate Manish.
According to the FIR and initial investigation:

  • They called Manish to a nearby orchard
  • Once he arrived, they ambushed him
  • Sahil allegedly stabbed him multiple times with a knife
  • Manish collapsed at the scene and died from his injuries

The attack was described as deliberate and coordinated.

Swift Police Action: Two Arrested

Shamli police arrested both Rajveer and Sahil the following day.

Officials recovered:

  • The murder weapon (knife)
  • Manish’s mobile phone
  • Additional material evidence linking the suspects to the crime

An FIR for murder was registered at Jhinjhana Police Station, and both accused are now in custody as the investigation continues.

Social Angle: Crime Rooted in Stigma and Fear

Though the incident is being treated purely as a criminal act, authorities noted the case also highlights:

  • The ongoing fear of exposure surrounding same-sex relationships in many rural parts of India
  • How social pressure and stigma can fuel extreme reactions
  • The vulnerability of individuals involved in hidden relationships

Police have urged communities to avoid moral policing and to report disputes before they escalate.

Current Status

Interrogation is underway, and police are verifying:

  • The exact sequence of events
  • Communication between the three men
  • Whether there were prior threats or disputes
  • If additional individuals were aware or involved

Authorities expect to file a detailed chargesheet soon.
